Puyallup drug dealer sentenced for marijuana, not murders

Jan 31, 2014, 2:43 PM | Updated: 4:02 pm

A Puyallup man who shot and killed two guys trying to rip off his home marijuana grow operation is sentenced in federal court to seven years in prison.

The prison time is for drug and gun charges, not the killings. In December 2012, Jeremy Capodanno fired more than a dozen rounds at the intruders who got into his garage where he was growing pot.

Prosecutors said Capodanno, 36, left his house with his son inside and fired through a window, likely killing one of the men. He then entered the garage and fired more than a dozen shots.

Capodanno pleaded guilty to manufacturing marijuana and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

As part of a plea agreement, Capodanno forfeits two homes, worth almost $670,000 as well as two vehicles and five firearms.

Prosecutors described Capodanno as a long-time drug trafficker who invited violence into his home that he shared with a child.
