King County has posted the official list of candidates and issues for November’s election, and a recall measure for Seattle City Councilmember Kshana Sawant is not listed.
The Recall Kshama Sawant campaign says it has until October to turn in enough signatures from District 3 voters.
The campaign says it expects to have enough signatures to qualify for a later ballot.
Councilmember Sawant says the group is purposely pushing the recall vote to a later, smaller election because it believes lower turnout will help them vote her out of office.
鈥淭he Recall campaign will not be bullied by Sawant or her supporters,鈥 Recall Sawant Campaign Manager Henry Bridger II said in a news release. 鈥淲ith her record of ethical and legal violations, Sawant鈥檚 meddling in the signature gathering effort cannot be trusted.
鈥淭his manipulative stunt has only complicated our verification process and confused voters. The Recall Sawant campaign will continue operating according to the rules set out by King County Elections as we proceed with our signature gathering efforts. When and how we submit those signatures for verification will be based on our confidence in the number of valid petitions we collect 鈥 not the whims of Councilmember Sawant.鈥
