Though Richard Sherman did not write a scathing blog post criticizing a Black Lives Matter activist, he does agree with some of the points made.

The Seahawks cornerback said he is not the author of a post written by someone using the pseudonym RSherman25. The post was a reaction to an image of Sherman and Marshawn Lynch with text that promoted killing “KKKrakas,” which was created by activist King Noble.

“There were some points in that post that were relevant and I could agree with,” Sherman said in a news conference on Wednesday. “But there were also some ignorant points in there.”

The post says King Noble is “what is keeping and making the black race look bad,” and calls out Noble who, last month, said it was “open season on killing whites and white police officers.”

Sherman said he does believe black lives matter. There is a “way” to go about showing this, other than violence, he said. Sherman, whose best friend was killed by two other black men, said the problem doesn’t just lie with police and white people.

“I didn’t hear anyone else shouting black lives matter then,” he said of the murder of his friend.

Sherman said before things can move forward, black people need to stop the black-on-black crime. The finger-pointing needs to end, he said.

“If black lives matter, they should matter all the time,” he added.

Sure there are “bad” police officers, Sherman said, but there also a lot of officers doing their best to protect everyone. Thanks to technology, officers that shouldn’t be on the job are being weeded out.

When it all comes down to it, Sherman says everyone is the same underneath.

“At the end of the day, when we die and our skin decays, our bones look the same,” he said.
