Detectives are trying a new strategy to generate tips about the drive-by killing of a high school girl in Lake Stevens: Robo calls.
It’s been three weeks since 15-year-old Molly Conley of Seattle was shot and killed as she walked along a road with friends. Snohomish County Sheriff’s chief Kevin Prentiss says they need more leads.
“We put out a reverse 911 call to some of the residents up in the Lake Stevens area to hopefully jog people’s memory as to maybe something they saw that looked suspicious, a vehicle that looked suspicious,” said Prentiss.
Detectives are investigating three shootings in the same general area the night of June 1 and early June 2. They’re particularly interested in video of black passenger vehicles, possibly with front passenger side damage, said Prentiss.
The recorded phone call went to almost 4,000 homes in the area of the shooting. The call was answered by 1,451 homes while 1,651 went to voice mail. About 900 calls were not answered or went to numbers that were disconnected.
Below is the text of the recorded call.
