The Seattle Police Department confirmed the collision between the bike cop and the trolley happened at Mercer Street and Queen Anne Avenue during the parade for the Seattle Sounders soccer team. The team was celebrating its MLS Cup win. The officer was riding alongside, providing security.
³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Radio’s Jason Rantz witnessed the incident.
“As the third trolley was making a turn to go from Mercer to Queen Anne, an officer on a bike was somehow pulled underneath the trolley,” Rantz said. “The trolley ran right over the officer’s leg. Immediately, the Sounders trainer, as well as other officers, surrounded the officer on the ground.”
“It was a clear break,” he said. “You could see bone sticking out of his leg. It’ was a pretty nasty and unfortunate accident.”
