Seattle Public Schools recommends remote instruction in fall

Seattle’s school district is now recommending that instruction in the fall begins remotely, until the risk of transmission of COVID-19 has decreased.
鈥淭he current trajectory of infection in King County and the most recent data and information from public health makes it clear that resuming school in-person this fall is impossible,鈥� Superintendent Denise Juneau said in a news release.
The school board will vote on for fall during its regular board meeting on Aug. 12.
The shift to remote learning is a change from the district’s previous plan for a hybrid model that combines in-person/in-school learning and remote learning.
The district said the latest recommendation has been endorsed by both the Seattle Education Association (SEA) and the Principals Association of Seattle Schools (PASS).
