The Seattle school district says there’s no concern about lead in the water at its schools.

鈥淧arents have nothing to worry about when it comes to unsafe levels of lead in the drinking water in Seattle Public Schools,鈥 said district spokesperson Stacy Howard.

The district adopted a policy on drinking water 12 years ago that includes periodic testing.

“The Seattle Public Schools considers student health and safety as a top priority,” Howard said. “Over the last several years we have adopted and implemented a set of rigorous standards which have set nationally recognized standards for safe drinking water quality in public schools.”

Seattle Public Utilities was also concerned about about lead in the water because of pipes leading to thousands of homes in the city, but after testing across the city, it announced on Monday it’s safe.

Tacoma is still testing hundreds of other locations, which may have unsafe levels of lead in the water.
