MultiCare Allenmore Hospital released a statement following the shooting.

“MultiCare Allenmore Hospital is currently on restricted access due to an incident in the emergency department (ED),” the hospital stated. “The ED is open for walk-in patients. Restricted access doesn’t allow for any visitors at this time. Tacoma Police are on-site investigating the incident. One person died as a result of this incident. All MultiCare staff are safe and unharmed.”

The emergency department will remain open for walk-ins, while the waiting room will stay closed due to a police investigation.
