A woman accused of harassing her Shoreline neighbors was arrested Wednesday for vehicular assault and for violating a no-contact order.

Shoreline family suing neighbor charged for alleged anti-Asian hate crime, years of bullying

Jan Myers, who was charged in April for a hate crime involving her neighbors, is in King County Jail on $10,000 bail. The King County Prosecuting Attorney鈥檚 Office asked that Myers be held on $25,000 bail, arguing that she is a danger to the community and she is in the midst of a hate crime case involving the fearful victim.

According to court documents, Myers screamed at her neighbor from her home Wednesday. Then she got into her car and approached a man who was standing on the sidewalk. Myers drove her car straight at the man, but he moved out of the way behind his own vehicle and then went inside.

The man, Bill Healy, and his wife, Thi Bao Tran Pham, are suing Myers, 72, for what they describe as years of racial comments and bullying.

An incident in April 2021 led to hate crime charges filed by the King County Prosecutor鈥檚 Office, based on evidence that the threats were based on Pham鈥檚 race, as well as a request for $15,000 bail. The judge opted to release Myers on her own recognizance and issued a temporary restraining order requiring Myers to stay at least 500 feet away from her neighbors.

Since then, Pham and her husband say Myers continues to stalk and harass them. They announced the lawsuit on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

Pham fought back tears as she described a life run by fear.

鈥淚 feel shock, and I feel so horrible,鈥 she explained. 鈥淚 have trouble going to sleep, and I have bad dreams. I feel like my life is in danger every time I go outside, but I [also] don鈥檛 feel safe in my house.鈥

Officers who originally responded to Thi鈥檚 call to police in April noted that several people who lived in the neighborhood had approached them with their own stories of incidents involving Myers, describing their own run-ins as incidents that involved reckless driving, stalking, and indecent exposure.
