State Patrol Officer chases driver down Interstate 5 in Tacoma

Highway 16 in Tacoma was closed early Sunday morning because of a high-speed chase to apprehend a reckless driver.
A Washington State Patrol Officer reported that the chase started after midnight near the King County Line when the trooper tried to stop a Honda Prelude that was speeding at 130 mph. The trooper pursued the vehicle as it turned around and drove north in the southbound lanes on Interstate 5 into Tacoma.
The driver crashed on and began ramming the trooper’s car. That’s when the trooper opened fire, wounding the driver in the hand.
The driver took off, . The 23-year-old driver was stopped soon afterwards and arrested after he was treated at a nearby hospital.
The trooper was not injured.
