Suspect shot after leading Lakewood cops on 10-mile chase

Dec 10, 2012, 7:11 AM | Updated: 7:24 am

Two Lakewood police officers shot a man late Sunday night after he opened fire on them following a 10-mile chase.

Lieutenant Chris Lawler says the officers started following a suspected stolen car on I-5, at Gravelly Lake Road, just before 10 p.m.

They chased the vehicle north until it got off at Portland Avenue in Tacoma. The officers then performed a “PIT maneuver,” forcing the car to stop.

The suspect allegedly shot at the officer who returned fire. The gunman was struck at least once though neither officer was hurt.
