Someone in Everett went on a wild, ravaging rampage with a stolen fire truck Friday night.

Late in the evening, an unknown suspect jumped in the driver’s seat, and took it on a malicious and destructive joyride.

Police say the person hopped in the cab of the pumper truck as medics were attending to someone having a medical emergency on the fifth floor of an apartment building on the corner of Hoyt and Hewitt Avenues.

Once behind the wheel, the unauthorized driver sped off, colliding with two parked vehicles three blocks away.聽 The driver then recklessly revved that stolen fire truck at high speeds through a series of neighborhoods, hitting a dozen more parked cars.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the devastating smash-ups.

Police say that suspect floored it, whipping the stolen engine through several residential streets in north Everett.聽 During the malicious melee, the driver wrecked parked vehicles in three different locations and tore up at least five beautifully-landscaped yards and lawns.

So far, police have no idea who the driver was or where the person can be found.

It all began just after 11:00 p.m. when the engine crew was returning to its 2018 Pierce Enforcer Pumper Truck parked outside the apartment.

They had just responded to someone having a medical emergency.聽 But when they returned to where their apparatus had been parked, it was nowhere it sight.

At around the same time they were unraveling the mystery of the missing truck, the first 911 call reporting a hit-and-run crash came in.

A witness told dispatchers a fire truck had crashed into two parked vehicles 16 blocks north of where the crew had left it.

The caller said the fire truck was traveling at a high rate of speed, and plowed into two parked cars on Hoyt Avenue, a couple of blocks west of Providence Regional Medical Center.

Police say about a minute later, more 911 callers reported a fire engine had finally come to a complete stop on E. Marine View Drive near 10th St., but only after side-swiping or crashing directly into ten more parked vehicles.

Police believe even before the truck hit the two parked cars 16 blocks away, it had plowed into two other cars on Hoyt, about three blocks from where it had been staged outside the apartment.

Officers quickly arrived to the Marine View Dr. scene where the pumper truck ended up, but the suspect was gone.

They established a containment area and deployed a K-9 patrol, but were unable to find the driver.聽 The suspect remains at large.

The stolen fire engine was seriously damaged from all of the collision.聽 It has now been placed out of service and was also impounded as evidence.

The fire department has put a reserve fire truck into to replace the damaged truck.

During their investigation into the driver鈥檚 disastrous jaunt, they discovered several locations with damage.聽 They have listed damaged property and vehicles in the following places:

  • 2900 Hoyt Avenue: Original theft location
  • 2600 Hout Avenue: Collision involving two parked vehicles
  • 1300 Hoyt Avenue: Additional collision with two parked vehicles
  • 500 block of Alverson: Damage to landscaping trees
  • Alverson Blvd & W Marine View Drive: Damage to directional signs, curbing, and grass
  • 1000 E Marine View Drive: Collision with ten parked vehicles

Police say they will continue their investigation and try to track down whomever is responsible for all that damage.

They encourage anyone with information regarding the series of collisions, or anyone who got a good look at the suspect, to contact the Everett Police Department.
