Apr 16, 2014, 1:40 PM | Updated: 2:01 pm

A toddler fell from a third story window Wednesday morning in South Seattle.

The 1-and-a-half-year-old girl fell out the window and hit an overhang before hitting the ground, said Sue Stangl with the Seattle Fire Department.

When fire department medics arrived to the building in the about 10 a.m. the girl was in her mother’s arms, crying.

“The girl was taken to Harborview with facial abrasions. We consider her condition to be serious due to the distance of the fall, but it did not seem like life-threatening injuries at this time,” said Stangl.

A window screen was seen on the ground near where the girl landed.

Seattle Police are investigating.
