Licton Springs gas leak draws firefighters, hazmat team

Crews evacuated buildings around Licton Springs Park in North Seattle after a natural gas leak.
The gas lines have been shut off in the area, and Puget Sound Energy crews are working on a fix.
Crews are on scene at the 9500 Blk. of Ashworth Ave. N. for a reported 2-inch natural gas line leak. Firefighters evacuating impacted area. More updates to follow.

A 2-inch gas line on Ashworth Avenue North was the problem. Firefighters at the scene with utility and hazmat crews assessed safety impacts. Two buildings were checked which had safe readings. Both were unoccupied.
By 11:38 a.m. Puget Sound Energy has shut off the gas line and was inspecting the system.
The fire department warned that the incident would cause traffic delays in the immediate area.
