Another case of lung illness connected to vaping is being reported in Washington state. Nineteen people are now known to have complications from tobacco or marijuana vape products.

As of Oct. 1, over 1,080 lung injury cases associated with using e-cigarette, or vaping, products have been  from 48 states and 1 U.S. territory. Eighteen deaths have been confirmed in 15 states. All patients have reported a history of using e-cigarette, or vaping, products, according to the CDC.

Tuesday’s news comes at the same time we have a new clue about root cause. A study of vaping products from Minnesota shows that newer cartridges contain vitamin E acetate, which may cause chemical lung damage.
