Westlake gas leak evacuates 200 people

A gas leak in Westlake caused a massive evacuation of 200 people from the area Tuesday morning.
A 2-inch hole in a gas line was caused by construction workers in the area. After the leak occurred at 1287 Westlake Avenue North, an eight-story building to the north of the site was evacuated — about 200 people.
Firefighters were notified of the gas leak at around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Puget Sound Energy responded to the scene. The gas leak was sealed within an hour.
