A woman died after the vehicle she was riding in was T-boned on northbound I-5 Thursday afternoon.

The woman’s husband was driving in the right lane of when an unidentified vehicle cut him off, according to the Washington State Patrol. Swerving to avoid a crash, the vehicle spun out of control and veered into the left lanes.

The car “went right into the path of a Dodge Durango,” Trooper Cliff Pratt said.

Both the man and woman were trapped in the car. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with moderate injuries, according to Pratt. His wife died at the scene.

There is no information on the vehicle that allegedly cut the man off.

The crash caused a two-mile backup on northbound I-5.
