City Arts Fest was pretty much off the chain this year. Musicians and artists were spread out all over the city of Seattle performing at various clubs and bars for all to enjoy. And from the sounds and sights of it all, people were definatly enjoying the crap out of this inaugural event of City Arts Fest. I was able to make it to The Crocodile Cafe Friday night to catch the tail end of Seattle’s own Country/Western favorites, Brent Amaker & The Rodeo. The place was absolutely packed to the gills. At one point some of the folks on stage started throwing buttons and pins to the audience. I love a good button or pin but throwing these things that are made of about 50 percent sharp pointy needles to an audience is not a good idea. I’m pretty sure someone lost an eye.

Head Like A Kite came up next with lead singer Dave Einmo and drummer Trent Moorman totally killing it. Great dancey tunes and lots of people on stage. One dude from The Rodeo was playing guitar with the band, the burlesque/GoGo dancer girls, not only were they easy on the eyes, but they were throwing beads and things to the audience too. I think they stayed away from throwing sharp objects to the crowd.
For the last song of the night HLAK performed ‘Director’s Cut’ from their latest record Dreams Suspend Night and had Tilson, formerly of The Saturday Nights, on stage to sing his verses.
