If you missed Brent Amaker & The Rodeo this past Saturday when they played to a packed Tractor Tavern, you missed one helluva night. To set the tone of the evening, Bunny Monroe aka Ruby Mimosa of burlesque troupe The Atomic Bombshells slinked onto the stage wearing a sexy black number and a surgical mask and proceeded to prep the stage/instruments with a wipe down like I’ve never witnessed before. I swear the audience needed a wipe down themselves after her display. I certainly did. The Rodeo took the stage shortly after her departure (oh, she would come back later in the evening. more skin, less dress.) and started playing ‘Johnny’s Theme’ while we all waited with whiskey baited breath for the man who writes the country hits, Brent Amaker. Watch the video below to check out the scene…

Brent Amaker & The Rodeo play Country & Western music (more on the side of Western) that will take you by the throat and shake you until you either vomit or dance. I’m thinking the latter would be waaay more fun but you are going to choose what you choose. For some it won’t be a choice. I’ve seen these guys rock the stage a few times now and not only is it impossible to not tap your toe or move your body in some fashion to the music but Brent and Co. never fail to put on a raucous, rockin’ and rollin’ booze fueled party. Not suprisingly, they even sing about booze…

I had the chance to catch up with Brent after the show (we may or may not have been boozy) and chat about his upcoming tour in Europe, the new Brent Amaker & The Rodeo record to be released in 2012 and more…
