Blue Songs is the sophomore record from disco/house music maker Andy Butler aka Hercules & Love Affair expected to drop August 16th, and if this record is anything like Hercules & Love Affair’s self titled debut then we are certainly in for a treat. Shortly after writing about this guy, I happened to stumble upon his debut record while sifting through the used CD section at the Ballard Sonic Boom Records and my first thought was ‘Why the hell would anybody scrap this amazing piece of music?’. Ok. Full disclosure. I hadn’t actually heard the record before picking it up that day but I was hoping it was going to be amazing as I had already listened to Blue Songs and had fallen in love. My second thought was ‘Sweet! Hercules and Love Affair’s first record. And cheap!’ One of the best records I’ve purchased recently. Electro mastermind has a debut record out now which is pretty darn sweet too, but that’s another story for another day.

Hercules & Love Affair have released a video for ‘Painted Eyes’, the lead single from Blue Songs and you can watch it below. You can also stream the entire Blue Songs record too. Whew. Lots of good tunes. I hope you can handle it.
