A few days ago I googled the term ‘mixtape’ to see exactly what I would find (yes, I’ve done this before in hopes to find this blog on the first page but to no avail) and stumbled upon this really cool website called .
It’s a music player and playlist creator that is free to register with and simple to use. How simple you ask? Watch this video and be prepared to love this thing…
from on .
You can find pretty much any song or artist you’re looking for plus random cover songs, remixes and alternate versions of songs that you may not have even known existed. Not too bad. It’s simple to create playlists and once you do it’s easy to share with others as each playlist is given its own URL and you can even embed your playlist on your own really cool blog page. Another note worthy fact about Mixtape.me is how the site gets the info about any particular artist. Mixtape.me grabs the bios from Last.fm, the lyrics from LyricWiki.org and the music videos from Youtube and plops them in an information box on the lower right side of the screen where you can enjoy all the live long day. Of course it’s nothing like making an actual mixtape on an actual cassette which is the best thing ever, but it’s a great way to have some fun at work (or home) when you’re bored as hell!
I just hope this site doesn’t go the way of the now defunct .
Here’s a mix I made the other night…
