Blake Sennett is probably best known for his role as the guitarist and co-vocalist in the much acclaimed and recently defunct indie rock band Rilo Kiley. If you’re a fan of Rilo Kiley however, then you most likely know that Blake has made a handful of his own records under the moniker of The Elected. Full disclosure: I did not know The Elected even existed until several weeks ago. However, since having discovered the band and their new album Bury Me In My Rings I have completely fallen in love.
Upon first listen, this record will evoke feelings of euphoria you’re merely read about in the papers and will have you floating on a cloud of pure bliss. to purchase the new album, get a free download of the awesome track ‘Go For the Throat’ and to experience general merriment and sprit lifting.
Alyssa K and I were lucky enough to get to chit chat with Blake. Listen below to hear him bare his soul about music, not limiting himself, why labeling people is not cool, how he discovered a new found happiness in life, home renovation (yes, that’s right) and his career with Rilo Kiley…
