I really like Dayve Hawk. More specifically, I really like Dayve Hawk as . He released his debut LP, Seek Magic, back in 2009 and it is without a doubt one record that you should investigate. The music will make you get up and dance around your house while the lyrics hug your head and your heart having you reminisce about someone that was important to you once.
I’ve had Seek Magic in the digital format for the past year and I finally got around to purchasing the LP on vinyl through and I was pumped! It took about 3 weeks for the LP to arrive at my front door and when I saw the package sitting there waiting to be opened, I peed my pants a little. I brought the package inside and opened the sh*t out of it. I was so very excited to put the record on and let myself become swept away by all the beautiful, lush sounds that Dayve Hawk creates. As I pulled the record from the package I saw something strange. It looked like the record was cracked. What the what?! Totally effing cracked. Thanks Acephale Records, for packaging records real sh*tty like. Total bummer.
I’ve since e-mailed Acephale Records with the below photo attached and should be receiving a replacement Memory Tapes LP soon. I still like you Dayve Hawk aka Memory Tapes. Your music makes me forget about sh*tty packaging.
Go to listen to a massive 17 minute track from Memory Tapes that you will love and go to check out his newest creation, ‘Pretend the Devil Isn’t Real’.
If you like Memory Tapes then you should also check out and .
Both are the brainchildren Dayve Hawk.
