Anacortes, WA indie rockers have a new self-titled digital only five track EP due out September 14th and this thing is just so, so good. The quartet, made up of singer/guitarist/keyboardist John Van Deusen, guitarist Tony Ruland, drummer Braydn Krueger, and bassist Eric Sturgeon have a way of ripping your heart in half (which is a good thing in this case) and injecting every ounce of emotion they can muster straight into your aorta. This is true especially on the EP’s first track called ‘Turn Off This Song’ where the lyrics suggest you should turn off the song and find someone to love because you can listen to it later. But, I don’t want to turn off the song. I want to listen to it until my heart explodes.
The Lonely Forest have several records under their belts and have recently had one of the coolest things ever happen to them. They have become the first band signed to Chris Walla of Death Cab For Cutie’s new label Trans. Walla also produced, engineered and mixed the self-titled EP which is the first new release from the label and a sneak peek at the bands new album, Arrows, which Walla produced as well and will be out in early 2011. Check the song ‘Live There’ from The Lonely Forest EP below…
