The Physics CD release party for their Love is a Business album was off the hook. As I entered The Crocodile this past Saturday I was greeted by the smooth, sexy sounds of Malice and Mario Sweet and much like everyone else in the place I was totally and completely under their spell. I don’t know just how long these two have been married but when they rock up on the mic they rock the mic right and it’s impossible to ignore the amount of love and respect they have for each other. Happy 2 Year is the duo’s debut release and it is something that you really need to hear if you know what’s good for you. After Malice and Mario Sweet finished their set, Hi-Life Soundsystem took the stage and completely changed up the vibe in the room from smooth and sexy to hard and heavy. I’m not too hip to these dudes but I liked the set (dudes can flow) and at various points throughout the performance Hi-Life had the entire dance floor moving. to check out and download (free!) Throughout the evening the energy level inside The Crocodile was bursting at the seams and when The Physics finally took the stage the place just erupted. That’s to be expected. Thig Natural, Just ‘Justo’ D’Amato and Monk Wordsmith are The Physics, one of the hottest groups coming out of Seattle right now and these three have an innate ability to cut tracks that people completely love. The Physics opened with ‘Coronas on Madrona’ (watch video below) but it was ‘Ready For We’ from their debut LP Future Talk that had the entire club bouncing.
