Scientists hunt for meteor that exploded off Washington coast

Scientists are searching for pieces of the meteor that exploded off the Washington coast in March.
A located an area of the Pacific Ocean about 16 miles off shore where the meteor is believed to have splashed down, the Associated Press reports.
It is believed about 2 tons of rock survived when it entered the Earth’s atmosphere, scattering over a half-mile.
The search began Monday.
The meteor explosion was seen and heard March 7. At least 15 reports were made to the American Meteor Society, Emergency Management in Grays Harbor County said at the time.
