The Ice Cube song, “It Was a Good Day” was released in February 1993. And ever since music fans have tried to pinpoint which day was a “good day” for Ice.
One of the clues to find the specific day for the song was the lyrics, “The Lakers beat the SuperSonics”
But as Ice Cube rapped the fan-favorite on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” Tuesday, the Heat beat the Spurs, and much to Seattle basketball fans dismay – the SuperSonics continue to be no more.
Along with a few other lyric switch-ups (head nod toward ?uestlove) he altered the Sonics line too: “What happened to the SuperSonics?”
Oh Ice, we want to know too. Also, we hope you can have a good day when the Sonics are back and they beat the Lakers.
You can hear the shout out at 3:08 in the video.
