It’s rare you get to see a cat save the day, but a family’s surveillance system caught a feline chasing down a neighbor’s vicious dog Tuesday afternoon.

Cameras caught the dog lunging at a small boy walking his bike in the driveway at his home in Bakersfield, Calif., and then trying to drag him away by the leg.

This is when the heroic family cat sprints to the rescue. As if in pure disbelief, the dog lets go and runs away with the cat hot on his heels.

The boy’s mother says she was also bitten by the dog after rescuing her son.

The neighbors reportedly took their dog to the city animal shelter where it’s being held in quarantine.
