Tiffany Smiley concedes to Patty Murray in U.S. Senate race

Senator Patty Murray won a hard-fought Senate race after her opponent, Republican Tiffany Smiley, conceded Wednesday evening.

This evening I reached out to Senator Murray and her campaign to congratulate her on her victory after a hard-fought race. I cannot thank my family, my team and the wonderful people of Washington state enough for their support over the past 18 months.

“We did it!” Murray said Tuesday night. “You showed up. You showed up so generations could have a democracy.” Murray noted protecting a woman’s right to choose and social security keys to her campaign.

Thank you, WA state! It is the honor of my life to be your voice in the U.S. Senate and I am humbled to have your support for another term.

My promise to you is that each and every day, I will continue fighting for working families and a stronger, fairer economy for us all.

“I am ready to go back to Washington to fight for the people of our state. You made a difference. It takes a village,” Murray said.

3rd Congressional District: Marie Gluesenkamp P茅rez (D) vs. Joe Kent (R)

2022 Election: Marie Gluesenkamp P茅rez vs. Joe Kent

Marie Gluesenkamp P茅rez won the 3rd Congressional District, according to AP, as Perez grabbed 50.8% of the vote compared to Joe Kent’s 49.2% as of Saturday evening. Perez finished with a 4,500-vote lead by the time AP called the race.

Washington state鈥檚 3rd District turned into one of the most coveted seats for the House of Representatives this election.

“I am humbled, honored, and grateful. I pledge to work every day to live up to the responsibility placed in me,” P茅rez said on social media following the announcement. “I will defend our rights. I will protect our democracy. And I will deliver the help working and middle class families need. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

8th Congressional District: Matt Larkin (R) vs. Dr. Kim Schrier (D)

2022 Election: U.S. Rep. Kim Schrier vs. Matt Larkin

AP has called the race in favor of Democratic Rep. Kim Schrier over Republican Matt Larkin for the 8th Congressional District House Seat election race Thursday evening. Rep. Schrier and Larkin had 53.0% and 47.0% of the vote, respectively, by the time AP called the race.

Schrier snagged the long-held Republican seat from the GOP in 2018 and has made headlines in recent months for pressuring the Biden administration to make COVID testing more readily available for Washingtonians. The pediatrician has pointedly referenced that all the Republican challengers to her seat hold anti-abortion stances.

Matt Larkin (R) is a Washington-based attorney, who ran on a platform featuring safety and crime, with much of his campaign advertisements focusing on the increased crime rates in Washington state, especially on topics such as drug abuse and homelessness.

King County Prosecutor: Jim Ferrell (D) vs. Leesa Manion (D)

Ferrell concedes King County Prosecutor’s race to Leesa Manion

Leesa Manion held on to a significant lead over Jim Ferrell in the King County Prosecuting Attorney race since the first ballots were released Tuesday night. Now, with more than 500,000 votes counted, Ferrell has conceded the race.

As of Friday afternoon, Manion led with 328,190 votes (56.4%), while Ferrell grabbed 250,480 votes (43.1%).

Longtime incumbent Dan Satterberg is retiring after holding the post for nearly two decades.

Manion, Satterberg’s current Chief of Staff, has been vocal about her priorities as a prosecutor, with her No. 1 goal to properly prosecute criminals and increase resources for law enforcement.

Ferrell spent 16 years as a trial attorney in the King County Prosecuting Attorney鈥檚 Office before being elected as Federal Way mayor for three terms.

Secretary of State: Steve Hobbs (D) vs. Julie Anderson (nonpartisan)

2022 Election: Secretary Steve Hobbs vs. Julie Anderson

Steve Hobbs claims victory as Julie Anderson announced she was conceding the race for Secretary of State Thursday evening. Hobbs and Anderson grabbed 49.8% and 46.4% of the vote, respectively.

Incumbent Steve Hobbs was appointed to the office following Republican Kim Wyman鈥檚 early exit when she took a post in the other Washington. Hobbs鈥� appointment marked the first time a Democrat had held the state鈥檚 top election post in nearly 60 years.

Pierce County Auditor Julie Anderson ran without party affiliation, citing her strong belief that political parties do not belong in the Secretary of State鈥檚 Office. Anderson managed to rake in $159,745 in campaign contributions as of late July.
