Ross: Don’t let this election get stolen … by apathy

Some of you are going to be participating in a stolen election … because you won’t vote today.

And here’s what I mean:

Imagine a simple election between two politicians, Gideon Goodguy and Boris Badguy.

There are 100 voters in the electorate, but 20 voters leave their ballots on the kitchen table unopened.

More from Dave Ross: Organ donor families finally get a chance to reconnect with the lives their loved ones saved

They were good Goodguy supporters, but they thought he HAD to win, based on his name, so why waste a ballot?

Of course, in the end, Goodguy lost, 41-39, because only 80 votes made it to the counting machine. The other 20 votes for him never made it off the kitchen table.

That’s how your vote gets stolen.

Any time you leave your ballot unused on the table, the effect is exactly the same as if a thief grabbed it from your mailbox and burned it. Or some rogue software programmer deleted your vote from the database. Or one of Putin’s henchmen broke into the elections office and poured acid on it.

Either way, your vote doesn’t get counted.

And today, right here in the state of Washington, it will happen thousands of times. Perfectly good ballots will be stolen by ‘Apathy.’

Fortunately, there’s an easy way to protect your ballot from being stolen – you can fill it out, sign the envelope, and cast it!

I’m not trying to guilt you into voting, only you can do that. I’m just pointing out an overlooked fact: that more ballots are stolen from our elections by their rightful owners than by any domestic or foreign conspiracy.

And the crooks are never punished.

Ross: Voters weren’t just voting for change, they were voting for a hormone

The more I read the post-election analysis, the more I’m convinced voters weren’t just voting for a change – they were voting for a hormone.
