The story behind Seth’s viral video

I love learning the stories behind viral videos. The most recent to go viral is of a boy named Seth, who uses a wheelchair, enjoying his first ride on a swing.

Seth is mostly non-verbal, but you don’t need words – only his smile and laughter – to know the swing is a home run. It was donated by a church group in Arkansas.

“We just wanted to find a way to give back to our community and recognize all people, you know, with disabilities,” a member of the group told .

His mom says she posted a as a “thank you” to the group and was surprised when it had been viewed 1,000 times. Then, it seemed in the blink of an eye, the views grew to 200,000.

“We’re the voice of these kids and they only can get as much of the world as we can give to them and so don’t be afraid to step out there and speak up for your child and do what they need,” Seth’s mom said.

Now, given the success of this swing, KFSM reports the local parks department is working on installing wheelchair-accessible swings in as many parks as possible.
