Dori: Why diversity training actually causes divisiveness

Remember a couple of weeks ago, when a teacher in Tacoma wrote an about mandatory diversity training for students? He came on our show and explained why he titled his op-ed, “Diversity education is a divisive education.”

I absolutely agreed with him. I’ve seen this diversity education format, and it is divisive. It is not about promoting diversity. It is about white guilt, white privilege, and dividing us into all of these little segments. We’re going to do the identity politics thing, where we identify everyone as a member of a group, so that we’re divided into as many little squabbling teams as possible.

Diversity curriculum is about that, because it is very important to the Left — which controls all education — to try to get away from bringing people together. The more they can divide people, the more they can engage in identity politics.

After the op-ed was published, Tacoma School Board President Karen Vialle said at a school board meeting that she would like teachers who dare to not toe the line to be eliminated from the schools. If you don’t embrace Leftist ideology, we should just get rid of you. I think that’s an outrageous abuse of the First Amendment from the Tacoma School Board president, and it is an example of how Leftist doctrine controls our schools.

Where has all of this diversity emphasis of the last several years gotten us?

Gonzaga University is having a lecture听by a philosophy professor on why the Disney film Moana is really about rape. That is a direct extension of diversity training. That’s what is taught in the diversity curriculum. It’s not, “Let’s celebrate everyone,” but “Let’s talk about how Western patriarchy is horrible and masculinity is awful and anything traditional about our country is horrible.”

LGBTQ activists at Oregon State University are trying to prevent student veterans from using a student lounge at the university. They said that permitting these students — who have selflessly served our country — could “alienate other students and their well-being.”

This is the kind of garbage that comes out of diversity training. It’s not about celebrating you because you’re LGBTQ, or you because you’re Asian-American, or you because you’re a Muslim. It’s about masculinity being horrible, and white people being horrible, and the flag being horrible, and people who serve in the military being horrible.

The Tacoma teacher is being proven right. This is what diversity education leads to.听The radical Left is in our public schools in Tacoma, in our public universities like Oregon State, and it’s even in private universities like Gonzaga. And it’s insidious and evil that we allow that kind of ideology to dominate in our schools and be impressed upon our children. Diversity is divisive. What’s going on at Gonzaga and Oregon State is absolute proof of that.

This certainly doesn’t mean that people should not celebrate their heritage or their uniqueness — far from it. But we need to focus on bringing people together. And saying that the flag is a symbol of hatred, that the military is a symbol of intolerance — that is what will truly divide us.
