In a break for the good guys, the Department of Homeland Security Investigations arrested Jovany Cota-Valenzuela, a Mexican drug smuggling suspect, for dealing dope in Seattle over the past few months.
For families and friends who have lost a loved one to deadly drugs, the stash officials found in this suspect鈥檚 possession are staggering:
- 322 grams of heroin
- 143 grams of methamphetamine
- 48 grams of cocaine mixed with fentanyl
- 29 grams of fentanyl mixed with cocaine
- 25 grams of deadly fentanyl
- 109 blue M30 pills and a separate stash of 152 blue M30 pills, both containing fentanyl
- a loaded 9-millimeter handgun, scales, and lots of U.S. cash.
During an interview with prosecutors, Mexican national Cota-Valenzuela revealed that he was smuggled into the United States by a drug cartel in exchange for selling the cartel鈥檚 deadly drugs in Seattle. Prosecutors asked for today鈥檚 bail to be set at $25,000, 鈥渂ecause of the likelihood that the defendant will commit a violent offense if released.鈥
Why is this news? Because it鈥檚 another piece of evidence proving that the single deadliest source of drugs in the Puget Sound region is the wide-open Joe Biden southern border 鈥 where drug cartels can easily smuggle drug dealers and drugs packed onto them right up the Interstate 5 corridor to Seattle.
What鈥檚 ironic about this?
Just today, Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson made opening arguments in King County Superior Court in a case where he is going after three 鈥渂ig Pharma鈥 companies, trying to hold them accountable for their role in the nation鈥檚 opioid epidemic.
So, Ferguson is going after Big Pharma, but he doesn鈥檛 seem to have a problem with Mexican cartels shipping illegal drugs across the unprotected southern border. Going after the White House would reflect poorly on the Biden administration. That is not dispensing justice blindly. This is our top cop seeing everything through the most political of prisms.
Don鈥檛 get me wrong: Stopping the opioid crisis is important 鈥 but not at the expense of ignoring street drugs.
Kudos to Homeland Security鈥檚 investigators and the prosecutors who are working to back up this Seattle street drug case.
