Single-stall bathrooms in Seattle City Hall and local businesses may become gender neutral.

Mayor Ed Murray made the proposal Wednesday.

All multi-stall bathrooms would remain gender-specific.

This is a move that won’t have much effect on men, but is bound to make women uncomfortable, ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Radio’s Dori Monson said.

“Do you know what pigs men are in the bathroom?” Dori asked. Many men aren’t very considerate when it comes to toilet etiquette. A lot of men don’t worry about raising or lowering the seat, which can lead to … less than ideal hygienic conditions.

That means women who have to share bathrooms with men will have to deal with a lack of care in the facilities.

This policy forces women to sit in filth, Dori said.

As a father of three, Dori can’t imagine his daughters being forced to share bathrooms with me, he said. It’s reprehensible, he added.

The policy is intended to make Seattle more welcoming to the transgender community. But it could become a public health issue, Dori said.

“I’m calling on Ed Murray to apologize to the women of Seattle and I think he should resign,” Dori announced. “We shouldn’t stand for it, or in this case, sit in it.”

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect which bathrooms will be affected by the mayor’s proposal.
