A very memorable Lake City couple has been placed in an apartment for low-income people. You will no doubt recall this particular couple, Dennis and Kimmie, because we talked about them before聽on the show.

Earlier this month, the Seattle Department of Transportation, at great expense, had to remove some large planters from the sidewalk on Lake City Way. The planters had been put there originally to beautify the neighborhood. But Dennis and Kimmie insisted on defecating in the planters.

When if they knew why the planters were being taken out, Kimmie answered that it was because of “the Bush presidency, the Iraqi war, and Libya.” Obviously, she is a mentally ill person on the streets.

So Dennis and Kimmie were placed in a low-income apartment building that is subsidized by the taxpayers. But the residents of the building said that they had all been told they must be a single person to get an apartment in the building — no couples allowed.

What’s more, Dennis and Kimmie were moved to the front of the line when there were a lot of people waiting patiently for housing. Other residents of the apartment building聽 that they believe City Hall wanted to get the vagrant couple out of sight, out of mind.

We reward the most abhorrent of behavior, and that’s why we’ve become such a magnet for homeless around the country.聽Somebody as mentally ill as that woman — someone who believes that the planters were being torn out because of the Bush presidency, the Iraq War, and Libya — should not be living in a taxpayer-subsidized apartment. She should be getting mental health treatment.

That is how you move to the front of the line for housing in this city, apparently. Poop in a planter, get a government-subsidized apartment.
