From living out of her van to running for Washington state鈥檚 6th U.S. District Congressional race: Rebecca Parson is determined.

On Tuesday鈥檚 Dori Monson Show, Parson 鈥� a member of the Democratic Socialists of America – told his listeners about her back story and why she is running for the second time since 2020 against incumbent Derek Kilmer (D). Her goal: to represent Clallam, Kitsap, Jefferson, and Grays Harbor counties, and part of Mason and Pierce counties 鈥� which includes most of Tacoma 鈥� in Washington, DC.

A 2015 East Coast transplant with a master鈥檚 degree in poetry, Parson told Dori鈥檚 listeners she was a successful small marketing and copywriting business owner until COVID. The pandemic forced her out of her home and into living out of her van, she said.

While Dori agrees with Parson about the belief that 鈥済overnment and corporations want to control us鈥� 鈥� the two went toe-to-toe on other major platforms in her campaign advertising.

Parson鈥檚 campaign Twitter account shows she鈥檚 opposed to a $15 minimum wage. She wants $30 for starters.

And h shows Parson grabbing bolt cutters from her vehicle to cut through a fence around a bank-foreclosed home right before she occupies it.

In the ad, Parson encourages others to do the same on bank-foreclosed homes. In fact, she was the spokesperson for a Tacoma House Now group doing just that at a Fife motel in late 2021 and early 2022.

But what about the U.S. Constitution鈥檚 5th Amendment protecting property rights? Dori asked.

鈥淵ou want to be a member of Congress and you鈥檙e telling people to destroy other people鈥檚 property,鈥� he challenged.

鈥淲e鈥檙e looking to build things up, not tear things down,鈥� Parson responded.
