When CBS News broke the story about , I was so sad.

It was sadness on many levels. For starters, it reminded me of how I felt when the late rock star Eddie Money died in 2019. He had been on our show, and Eddie was a great guest, a good guy. He really did his homework.

In fact, while on our show, he told a story about Ronnie Spector, former lead singer of The Ronettes, the wildly popular 1960s band. It still gives me goosebumps.

Eddie told my listeners how he called Ronnie one evening in the mid-1980s, long after The Ronettes had broken up in 1967. While she was washing dishes, he cajoled her to come out of retirement and sing the integral lines “Be My Baby” from her 1963 smash hit.

As it turns out, Eddie’s “Take Me Home Tonight” was a 1986 hit. And it used the vocals of Ronnie Spector. It was a staple on MTV. It was one of his many, many great songs. And it’s another reason why Ronnie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

“Take me home tonight,” “Be my little baby” — the way Ronnie Spector sings that with Eddie Money is one of the sexier lines in rock ‘n roll. I’m getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.
