A former Seattle Mariner who now plays for the Toronto Blue Jays made waves with an unintelligible post-game interview over the weekend.
A sports reporter was trying to talk with Mark DeRosa, who scored, but DeRosa brought Kawasaki, who had the game-winning walk-off double, over to talk with the reporter instead.
And the reporter couldn’t understand a word.
What we think he’s saying:
“Thank you very much! My name is Munenori Kawasaki! I am from Japan! I am Japanese!”
He then appears to read from notes, continuing:
“My teammates gave me an opportunity so I wanted to do something about it.”
As Mark DeRosa said in another interview: “I don’t know what he’s saying all the time, but he sure gives a lift to this team.”
Kawasaki was previously of his odd post-game celebration as a Mariner, where he laid down on top of a teammate. .
