Did President Barack Obama host a screening at the White House of a movie that depicts gratuitous sex, drug use, and demeaning depictions of the Wall Street workforce?

Michael Medved is reporting that Hollywood big shots Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese visited the White House this week, and brought a complimentary DVD copy of their new movie, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” with them.

“I understand that the president might be interested in seeing “The Wolf of Wall Street,” but oh my god, if they do any screening [at the White House], this is one of the harshest R-rated movies ever,” Medved said. “It has one orgy scene after another, full nudity of every kind.”

Worse than the content, the movie may be demeaning to Wall Street workers. The film tells the story of Jordan Belfort, who worked himself up from modest beginnings, eventually founding his own Wall Street firm. In the late 1990s, federal investigators sought and won a fraud conviction against Belfort for stock market manipulation.

Still, the film may feed negative perceptions of Wall Street, which Medved wondered might be Obama’s real motive in welcoming the movie into the White House.

“Why would the White House choose to honor this film?” Medved asked. “Could it have something to do with that it gives the worst imaginable view to the Wall Street system?

“Is the president really now so determined to stigmatize Wall Street that he wants to support and endorse that the people who run our financial system are disgusting degenerates?”
