With the holidays behind us, it’s time to across the region every weekend.

Northbound I-5 in Mountlake Terrace is going to see the biggest impact. All northbound lanes will be closed each night for Sound Transit’s work on light rail to Lynnwood. Contractors are putting in some preliminary falsework over the northbound lanes where the trains will cross the freeway. There was a similar closure late last year in the southbound lanes.

Around 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the northbound lanes will close at Highway 104, which is the exit to Edmonds. The closure extends to 220th in Mountlake Terrace. Drivers will be detoured onto Highway 99 to get around the closure. The lanes should reopen each morning before 6:30 a.m.

The Lower Spokane Street Bridge access dilemma

Speaking of Highway 99, Sound Transit will be closing both directions of the road in Sea-Tac to move some equipment for the Federal Way light rail expansion. This closure is from 8 p.m. Friday to about 1 a.m. early Saturday. The closure is between South 204th Street and South 208th Street.

And there’s more bad news for the people suffering from the closure of the West Seattle Bridge.

The Lower Spokane Street Bridge, which is the only straight shot out of the neighborhood, will be closed for a few hours on Saturday, including the roadway and the pedestrian-bike path. The closure starts at 8 a.m. and should last until 1 p.m. The city is inspecting the bridge and the mechanism that connects at the ends.
