Man deemed a sexually violent predator who cut ankle monitor captured

The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) announced Thursday it has captured Damion Blevins after he cut his ankle monitor while in Seattle, the DOC reported Thursday.

He was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in Portland, Oregon, the state agency reported in a news release distributed to the media.

Blevins, 33, boarded a train to Portland Monday evening at King Street Station in Seattle after removing his GPS monitor. He will be booked into the Multnomah County jail and then extradited to the state of Washington to face new charges. The will provide additional details about the arrest as they become available.

Blevins was a resident of a (LRA) in Tukwila. The release explained that “LRAs are community residential facilities that offer court-ordered treatment for sexually violent predators in a setting less restrictive than the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.” The program is run by the (DSHS), but the DOC monitors LRA residents for compliance of their supervision requirements.

Blevins was most recently convicted of second-degree assault in 2017 and civilly committed to the Special Commitment Center in 2023, the DOC stated. OffenderWatch’s page also noted that June 20, 2019, the King County Superior Court determined Blevins was a sexually violent offender.

For those citizens who might have seen Blevins and want to help, it was previously suggested they asked to call 911 with information or DOC headquarters at (360) 480-2696.

Blevins is six feet tall and weighs 270 pounds, the DOC reported in its initial release seeking information on his whereabouts. In addition, as the website , he has tattoos on both arms. bills itself as “the nation鈥檚 largest and most versatile sex offender registry (SOR) monitoring and community notification resource for law enforcement.”
