Teen accidentally shot by 13-year-old friend near Alderwood Mall

A 15-year-old has been injured after an accidental shooting near Alderwood Mall Tuesday afternoon, according to the Lynnwood Police Department.

At about 1 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call in the 3400 block of Alderwood Mall Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy with minor injuries. He was later transported to Harborview Medical Center.

According to police, a 13-year-old friend of the 15-year-old accidentally shot him.

After the shooting, the 13-year-old ran to Target, where he was later detained by officers.



An earlier version of this story stated the victim was 14 years old, as relayed by the Lynnwood Police Department. It was discovered later the victim was 15-years-old.
