On Monday, President Donald Trump denounced the race-fueled protest that turned violent in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday. It took him far too long to do so.

Dave Ross: Is it possible to hate each other more gently?

But did the president at least say what people wanted to hear?

“It’s like 48 hours later than it should have been, but yes,” ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Radio’s Tom Tangney said.

Trump called racism “evil” and condemned the KKK, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists, calling them “criminals and thugs.” He spoke in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, following a meeting with Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray about the violence in Virginia that left a woman dead and at least 19 injured.

The president has been criticized for the comments he made Saturday after a man allegedly drove a vehicle into a crowd of counter-protesters who had gathered in opposition to a rally by white nationalists. Trump stated that “many sides” are to blame for the violence, without going into specifics.
