Protesters supporting jobs, fighting Shell are hypocritical

The idea of supporting jobs, but wanting to stop the collection of energy doesn't make sense, AM 770 KTTH's David Boze said.

On Friday, Seattle protesters once again gathered at the Port of Seattle’s Terminal 5 to protest Shell oil and drilling in the Arctic, but they were doing so ironically.

One protester was spotted holding a sign reading “Jobs yes, sHellNO,” AM 770 KTTH’s David Boze pointed out.

The idea of supporting jobs, but wanting to stop the collection of energy doesn’t make sense, Boze said. The world’s population continues to grow. Even if solar power becomes “the cat’s meow” of energy, people will still need oil.

And maintaining oil rigs and drilling for oil creates jobs, Boze added.

So unless the protesters want a global catastrophe, and that’s what could happen without oil, then drilling should be supported.

“What happens when there’s a global catastrophe?” Boze asked. “Do [people] care about the environment?”

Oil needs to be collected, he reiterated.

“So when you’re holding up a sign that says ‘Jobs yes, sHellNo,’ you’re just being stupid,” Boze said. “That’s all there is to it.”
