Auburn police officer shoots, kills knife-wielding man

One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting at an Auburn apartment complex early Monday morning.

The Auburn Police Department that officers responded to calls about a domestic dispute at 12:47 a.m. at the Palermo Apartments in the 7000 block of Lindsay Avenue SE. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in the parking lot who was involved with the domestic dispute.

Officers say the man began to fight with them. At one point, he produced a knife. Despite orders to drop the knife, the man did not. An officer then opened fire and shot once.

The man died at the scene as a result of a single gunshot wound. No officers were injured.

The shooting is under investigating, which is standard procedure. The Valley Investigations Team will lead the investigation
