A protest that started in downtown Bellevue Saturday evening prompted the city to enact an emergency order to prohibit weapons in the downtown core.

The ban was enacted at 7:15 pm and was lifted around 11 p.m. It stretched along Lake Washington Blvd from NE 8th to where Main Street meets up with I-405. The outer boundary was NE 12th St.

A group of about two dozen people meandered the city’s streets for about four hours before calling it a night. At one point there was what was a minor confrontation when the group came upon a lone counter-demonstrator.

A protester is on-camera tagging the roadway with spray paint. BPD said it has made one arrest for driving with a suspended license.

On May 31, looters broke into Lincoln Square, Bellevue Square, The Bravern, and into small shops. Since then, police say they have sent 70 looting cases to the King County prosecutor’s office.
