A man was pulled to safety Wednesday morning after his 40-foot boat caught fire in the waters near Vashon Island, according to
The U.S. Coast Guard’s Maritime Safety and Security Team from Seattle was the first to respond to the emergency in Colvos Passage. After pulling the man from the flames, fire crews from Tacoma extinguished the blaze engulfing the vessel.

Authorities confirmed that no one was hurt. Emergency crews from the Coast Guard, Tacoma Fire, Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One, and West Pierce Fire and Rescue stayed on scene to tow the damaged boat to Point Defiance Marina.
This morning, crews from MSST Seattle rescued a man from a burning 40-foot pleasure craft in Colvos Passage off the coast of Vashon Island. Shortly after, arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
