Climate Pledge Arena — the soon-to-be home of the Seattle Storm and Seattle Kraken — announced its first food partners this week, with a focus on Pacific Northwest flavors and favorites.

The food and beverage program coming to the arena, called “,” was created with provider . A number of local restaurant partners will help “strip away the perception of traditional arena fare,” including: Ballard Pizza Co., Din Tai Fung, Metropolitan Grill, Elliott’s Oyster House, Lil Woody’s, Just Poke, and more yet to be announced.

As the arena focuses on sustainability, so will the food. The house wines and craft beers will be from Washington and Oregon, and 75% of food ingredients will be sourced within a 300-mile radius. Where applicable, the beef will be grass-fed, the eggs will be from cage free hens, antibiotic- and hormone-free proteins will be offered, coffee will be Rainforest Alliance or Fair-Trade certified, and produce will be USDA Organic. There will be plant-based options as well that include vegan and vegetarian options.

It will all be led by Executive Chef Molly De Mers, who will be the first female executive chef to open a major professional sports arena. De Mers brings significant experience to the table, including three years as executive chef at the Seattle Aquarium.

Climate Pledge Arena lays out plan to become world’s first carbon neutral arena

Seattle鈥檚 Climate Pledge Arena is set to open this fall, with plans to become the world鈥檚 first net zero carbon certified arena. Food service will reflect the arena鈥檚 carbon neutral goals as well, with kitchens using electric appliances and food sourced from nearby. By 2024, the arena has 鈥渃ommitted to eliminating 100% of our single-use plastic.鈥

In addition to NHL hockey and WNBA basketball, the arena will host concerts and could also house a future Seattle NBA team. Capacity for NHL games sits at 17,100; concert capacity is up to 17,200; and basketball games could draw up to 18,100.
