Open investigation after downtown Seattle shooting sends one to hospital

A 31-year-old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center on Wednesday after a shooting in downtown Seattle.
The Seattle Police Department that at 2:10 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported the shooting at 3rd Avenue and Pike Street. Police identified that the gunshot victim was carrying narcotics and a handgun.
Witnesses claim that the victim may have exchanged gun fire with the suspect after an altercation. Ballistics evidence at the scene indicates damage to a King County Metro bus.
The victim鈥檚 gun and narcotics were seized as evidence. Police report that the victim is a convicted felon. Police detectives continue to investigate the incident Thursday.
鈥淗e shot this guy point blank, in front of everybody,鈥 a witness at the scene told 成人X站 7 TV about the suspect. 鈥淭his is the fifth shooting that I鈥檝e seen in the last four or five years.鈥
This intersection — 3rd Avenue and Pike Street — has been a recurring site of violence in recent months. In December 2021, a another gun shot victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injury. In October 2021, a 35-year-old man was shot and killed in the downtown area.
An SPD Gun Violence Reduction Unit investigation into the Jan. 19 downtown shooting is ongoing.
