Early morning Tacoma fire displaces 10, seriously injures 1

The Tacoma Fire Department (TFD) responded to an early morning fire on Monday that seriously injured one person and displaced 10 others.
The fire started at approximately 3 a.m. Monday in an apartment building on S. D Street. The fire started on the first floor, according to TFD, but it soon extended to the second floor and then the roof.
Two cats were rescued from the fire, according to the department.
2900 blk S D St, 3:10am – Tacoma Fire crews responded to an apartment fire that displaced 10 people. The fire started on floor 1, extended through floor 2, reached the roof. We transported 1 patient with serious injuries, 1 patient evaluated on scene, 2 cats rescued.

The cause of the fire is unknown, as of this reporting.
